Position: Asset Protection Officer
Location: Germiston
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma (NQF level 4) or equivalent.
- Registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (Minimum Grade C).
- Proficient in handling firearms and possess a valid firearm competency certificate.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in security.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Guarding:
- Protect the assets and property of Combined Private Investigations and its clients, including buildings, premises, vehicles, and equipment, in accordance with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act 3 of 1985.
- Assist in preventing theft, arson, sabotage, vandalism, and other crimes within the area.
- Report any incidents or irregularities to management in a timely manner.
Patrolling:
- Conduct continuous patrols during the shift to prevent and detect signs of intrusion.
- Inspect all buildings, warehouses, stores, and rooms, ensuring all doors, gates, and windows are securely closed and locked.
- Perform highly visible patrols to deter crime.
- Report all incidents in accordance with applicable legislation, policies, and procedures of Combined Private Investigations.
Access Control:
- Conduct searches on all visitors and vehicles entering and leaving the premises.
- Ensure legal and safe access control for all employees, clients, and visitors, in compliance with the Trespass Act 6 of 1959 and Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act 3 of 1985.
- Verify the identity and authorisation of all individuals before granting access to the premises.
- Prohibit the entry of any harmful substances onto the premises.
- Check for proper gate releases for all vehicles entering or leaving the premises.
- Record all visitors in the visitor register/logbook.
- Provide access strips to visitors upon entry and ensure their return upon departure.
- Monitor and record all activities inside and outside the premises.
Observations:
- Closely observe all areas, particularly those identified as high-risk areas.
- Report all incidents and activities to management immediately.
- Identify suspects and perpetrators in the observation area and report them to management.
- Follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of Combined Private Investigations at all times.
Arrests and Convictions:
- Make necessary and appropriate arrests.
- Prepare for court to ensure a high conviction rate.
- Follow up on information to trace wanted suspects in cooperation with the local police force.
- General and Administration:
- Complete the occurrence book (OB) after every incident.
- Obtain management's signature on the occurrence book.
- Maintain clear and legible handwriting in all registers.
- Keep the key register and vehicle control register up to date.
- Follow legal and company policies for handling confiscated goods.
- Ensure all personnel, clients, contractors, and visitors comply with policies and procedures.
- Assist clients with any security-related issues.
- Ensure all time sheets and posting sheets are signed at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Ensure effective and functional radio communication at all times.
- Report any equipment or facility defects in the occurrence book and to relevant management.
