Job Summary
Hire Resolve's client, a chemical manufacturer, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join their team in Amanzimtoti. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical maintenance and a passion for safety and efficiency in the workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Leadership
- Lead and manage a team of mechanical technicians, ensuring the timely and efficient completion of maintenance tasks.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Coordinate training and development for team members to ensure skill enhancement and knowledge of best practices.
- Maintenance & Reliability
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to ensure maximum equipment uptime.
- Conduct root cause analysis on mechanical failures and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on the design, installation, and modification of mechanical systems to improve plant efficiency.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all mechanical activities comply with Evonik’s safety standards and relevant industry regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and participate in plant safety programs.
- Ensure team adherence to permit-to-work, lock-out/tag-out, and other safety protocols.
- Operational Support
- Provide technical support to operations for troubleshooting and resolving mechanical issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and equipment documentation.
- Support cost-control efforts by optimizing resource allocation, reducing downtime, and minimizing waste.
- Project Management
- Assist in planning and executing mechanical projects, including resource allocation, budgeting, and timeline management.
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers for specialized maintenance tasks or upgrades.
- Track and report project progress to senior management, ensuring milestones are met and any delays are addressed promptly
Requirements:
- Education: Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Trade certification as a Mechanical Fitter or Millwright will be advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a mechanical supervisory role within a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably within the chemicals or peroxide industry.
- Strong knowledge of rotating and static equipment, including pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
- Proficiency with maintenance management software (e.g., SAP PM) and CMMS systems.
- Solid understanding of mechanical codes, standards, and safety regulations in industrial settings.
