JOB PURPOSE:
To perform clamping and de-clamping duties for clients at numerous depots daily.
1. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1.1 Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF level 4).
1.2 Valid Code 8 driver’s license with minimum two years driving experience.
1.3 PSiRA (Grade C).
1.4 Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
1.5 Experience in report writing.
1.6 Two (2) years’ proven working experience in a safety / security / high value cargo environment will be beneficial.
1.7 Knowledge and experience in tracking units will be beneficial.
1.8 Computer literacy is essential,
1.9 IT / technical training / background will be beneficial.
2. KEY RECEIVERS:
2.1 Clamping Supervisor.
2.2 Cargo Protection Operational Manager.
2.3 HOD: Cargo Protection.
2.4 Cargo Protection Branch Manager.
2.5 Operational Staff.
2.6 NOC Operators.

3. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
3.1 Clamping and Unclamping Containers.
3.2 Reporting.
3.3 Company Vehicles and Equipment.
3.4 General.
4. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Functional outputs and activities will include, but are not limited to:
4.1 Clamping and Unclamping Containers:
4.1.1 Receive clamping and unclamping instructions from the clamping supervisor.
4.1.2 Carry out the clamping and unclamping instructions effectively and according to the standard operating procedures.
4.1.3 Ensure that clamping units are tested with Control Room and Confirm that the unit is active, updated and that the battery level is full.
4.1.4 Ensure that the correct units are attached according to the pre-advice reports.
4.2 Reporting:
4.2.1 Keep management informed and updated on all relevant issues and incidents.
4.2.2 Ensure all relevant data pertaining to the clamping and unclamping of units are sent to the supervisor/Control Room promptly to ensure that they are tracked and monitored effectively.
4.2.3 Update the supervisor and management on all relevant changes immediately.
4.2.4 Always maintain communication with senior management.
4.2.5 Report incidents to the local authorities and senior management immediately.
4.2.6 Complete accurate pre-advice reports daily.
4.3 Company Vehicles and Equipment:
4.3.1 Use company vehicles and other company equipment responsibly and follow the policies of the company in this regard.
4.3.2 Ensure that all company vehicles and other company equipment are maintained and kept in proper working order.
4.3.3 Report any problems pertaining to the equipment immediately to the clamping supervisor.
4.3.4 Report an accident to all relevant parties (including police) immediately. Ensure that all relevant details of third parties are collected.
4.4 General:
4.4.1 Immediately answer all telephone calls in a polite, friendly and professional manner. If, by any chance the call was not answered, ensure that the call is returned as soon as possible.
4.4.2 Provide the correct and relevant information to callers.
4.4.3 Follow up and provide feedback to management and clients on an ongoing basis.
4.4.4 Always adhere to all health and safety regulations (this includes equipment used when working at heights).
4.4.5 Complete all administrative duties timeously and in the correct manner (this includes completing the relevant sections in the pre-advice reports as well as time sheets).
4.4.6 Maintain proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment.
4.4.7 Prepare log sheets according to company policies and procedures.
4.4.8 Transport locks to Durban as and when required.
6. HEALTH AND SAFETY:
6.1 Equipment should only be used for the sole purpose that they are intended for, within the health and safety regulations thereof and only by the people who have received the proper training, therefore.
6.2 If any hazard of any kind is noted, it must be reported to the SHEQ Manager immediately for remedial action to be taken.
6.3 Be responsible for your own health and safety as well as the health and safety of those around you.
6.4 Adhere to the regulations on the usage of consumables, equipment and clothing as well as the maintenance thereof.
6.5 Adhere to the Health and Safety regulations as prescribed by each client’s unique need and specification.
8. QUALITY:
8.1 Staff member must always adhere to the company Quality Manual, Policies and Procedures of the company.
8.2 Staff member / Department must ensure that their objectives are met and discussed continually giving the ISO department updates on their progress.
8.3 Measurement, analysis, and improvement of the QMS through activities such as updating policies, procedures and forms relating to their department / branch, internal audits and corrective and preventive action.
9. SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
9.1 Employees will be required to undergo training that is deemed necessary to raise the standard of service delivery and / or to comply with the requirements of the position.
