Job Summary
PKF Cape Town, one of South Africa’s largest mid-tier auditing firms, is looking for a Tax Compliance Officer to join their team at their Bellville OR Stellenbosch office.
Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Completion and submission of income tax returns for Companies Trusts and Individuals.
- Reviewing of income tax assessments companies, Trusts, and Individuals.
- Preparation, completion, and submission of notice of objections and appeals when required.
- Application for reduced assessments in terms of the Tax Administration Act.
- Requesting SARS to remit various penalties for various entities and tax types.
- Submission and follow-up of requests for reasons when SARS issues assessments without clarification.
- Attending to various registrations - Income tax, VAT, PAYE, Customs (import and export), NPO, PBO, Turnover Tax, Estate Late, bodies corporate, homeowners’ associations.
- Re-registrations - Income tax, VAT, PAYE.
- Manage requests for Dormant companies.
- Preparation of tax computations for individuals and trusts.
- Calculation, completion, and submission of provisional and dividend tax returns.
- Application for tax clearance certificates.
- Application for various tax directives.
- Attending SARS appointments when necessary and preparation and uploading relevant supporting documents as required for the appointment.
- Preparation and requesting relevant supporting documents to appoint or update a public officer.
- Attending to various SARS correspondence/queries/verifications.
- Manage SARS applications relating to when an individual has ceased to be a SA tax resident, attending to SARS’ queries and calculation of possible deemed CGT.
- Attend to e-mail and telephone queries to and from clients.
- Administration of e-Filing and attending to the upkeep of clients' e-filing profiles.
- Preparation, completion, and submission of IRP5 reconciliations.
- Upkeeping of tax database on Greatsoft.
- Tax invoicing.
- Perform new client take-on procedures.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Taxation
- Registered tax practitioner (advantageous)
- Previous experience working within an audit/accounting firm
- Computer Literate (MS Office; SARS EFiling; GreatSoft)
- Good communication skills
- Bilingual (Afrikaans and English)
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle
