A Financial Planner position available for a leading company within the financial industry.
Your:
Education
- A financial qualification is essential (e.g. B Com finance, accounting, investment management);
- A Post Graduate diploma in Financial Planning;
- CFP® designation is essential.
Experience Required
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience;
- Proficient in Afrikaans, both written and verbal communication.
Knowledge
- Proficient on Microsoft Windows (advanced level in Excel);
- Building financial models in Excel;
- Estate Planning tax and regulation.

Responsibilities (Investment Planning)
- Consolidate and summarise all client assets (policies, investments & properties);
- Make necessary projections;
- Highlight different tax implications;
- Prepare the necessary cash flows to ensure sustainability of income;
- Identify the appropriate investment vehicle and structure;
- Identify the client’s capital & income needs in the event of death/disability/severe illness/retirement;
- Determine capital / income shortfalls;
- Analyse & compare various local & offshore unit trust funds (CIS). Obtain & provide performance graphs, asset allocation, risk & return scatterplots, risk correlation tables etc.
Responsibilities (Estate Planning, Risk Planning & Business Insurance)
- Consolidate and summarise all policies, investments & assets and liabilities at death, disability or severe illness;
- Consolidate all income and capital needs of the client at death, disability or severe illness;
- Calculate tax and duties payable at death;
- Prepare the necessary estate planning proposal which contains a breakdown of the estate duty, summary at death and liquidity position at death;
- Determine additional cover needed;
- Prepare the necessary risk proposal for disability and severe illness which compares the provisions with the shortfall;
- Determine capital / income shortfall or surplus at death and can make the appropriate recommendation;
- Business Assurance - including Buy-and.-sell agreements, credit/debit loan accounts, contingent Liability, keyperson assurance and. Deferred/Preferred compensation;
- Calculate company values where necessary.
People
- Liaise closely with all stakeholders (i.e. Wealth Planners / Financial Advisors, External brokers, Investment Consultants from Life and Asset Management Companies)
Administration
- Advise Wealth Planners on where to invest, and tax implications;
- Drafting of reports and estate plans as per instructions from the Wealth Planner;
- Provide additional assistance to the Wealth Planners after presentation of the report, when necessary;
- Research investment portfolios and investment performance;
- Provide recommendations on various products and investment structures;
- Track relevant legislation and keep up to date on investment solutions.
Process
- 3 Business days lead time in preparation of investment reports / proposals for Financial Advisors;
- 4 Business days lead time in preparation of Estate planning and Business Insurance proposals.
