Job Summary
Hire Resolve's Client is seeking a Junior Construction Manager to join their team in Johannesburg. The Junior Construction Manager will assist in overseeing construction projects from initiation to completion. The role requires hands-on involvement in planning, execution, and delivery of projects, ensuring that work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination
- Assist with day-to-day site management, ensuring work is progressing as per the schedule.
- Collaborate with senior project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure smooth operations.
- Coordinate materials and equipment delivery to the site.
Site Supervision
- Monitor work done on-site and ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
- Track the performance of subcontractors and laborers to ensure timelines are met.
- Resolve minor on-site issues and escalate complex matters when necessary.
Scheduling and Budget Management
- Assist with project timelines, schedules, and cost monitoring.
- Work closely with the procurement team for cost-effective materials and resources.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct quality checks to ensure construction work meets design specifications and safety guidelines.
- Identify and mitigate potential project risks or delays.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain project records, including progress reports, budgets, and schedules.
- Submit daily/weekly site activity reports.
- Support the senior team in managing project paperwork and contractual obligations.
Client and Stakeholder Communication
- Assist in addressing client concerns and providing updates as required.
- Attend regular site meetings with clients, engineers, and other stakeholders.
Key Requirements
Education & Qualifications:
- National Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- SACPCMP registration (or in progress) would be an advantage.
Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience in construction site management or a similar role.
- Exposure to residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects preferred.
Skills:
- Knowledge of construction processes, materials, and project management principles.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project) and project scheduling tools.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to multitask.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental standards on construction sites.
