Job Summary
Hire Resolve's Client are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Sandton. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects. You will ensure that projects are completed within the projected budget and that all work aligns with high standards of quality and safety. A strong preference is given to candidates experienced with CCS (Candy) software and those who enjoy a hands-on, site-oriented approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Construction:
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) based on drawings and specifications.
- Develop detailed project cost estimates and tender documentation.
- Provide cost analysis and feasibility studies for potential projects.
- Participate in tender evaluations and contract negotiations.
Project Execution:
- Conduct site measurements and validate project quantities.
- Monitor project costs and budgets, ensuring alignment with projections.
- Manage and report on project financials, including cost variations and change orders.
- Perform value engineering to optimize cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with project managers and site teams to monitor progress and resolve discrepancies.
Post-Construction:
- Prepare and review final accounts and ensure timely closure of project financials.
- Conduct project audits and provide cost reconciliation reports.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates on financial performance and cost issues.
- Support the procurement team in sourcing and negotiating supplier contracts.
Requirements:
- Educational Qualification: Degree/Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in the construction and engineering sector.
- Proficiency with CCS (Candy) software is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, techniques, and materials.
- Excellent knowledge of contract law, FIDIC, NEC, or JBCC (preferred).
- Exceptional skills in drawing up and managing Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
- Ability and willingness to spend time on-site for measurements and assessments.
