Minimum Qualification:
- Grade 12
- A proven track record with Buying and Selling in a motor dealership
- Utilizing technology to effectively drive the buying function
- Industry legislative requirements

Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Buying of Cars – 60%
- Accurate Vehicle Appraisals & Stock Recon – 30%
- Wholesaling of Cars – 10%
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve budgeted volume and margin targets monthly, quarterly and annually
- Build relationships with dealerships, wholesalers, auctions, online auctions, direct contacts to continuously have a pipeline of cars
- Understand market tendencies and the changes to the trends in all geographic areas.
- Develop effective working relationships with all the purchasing venues to accelerate the placement of ideal inventory in an expeditious and cost-effective manner.
- Searching for cars the sales team has approvals on, that is needed to close their deals
- Purchase vehicles in good condition at the right price
- Ensure all new stock purchased is noted by stock controller and marketing team has correctly advertised the vehicle with correct info and specs.
- Prioritize a shift in procurement from wholesale suppliers to a direct approach wherein the middlemen are reduced in impact
Accurate Car Appraisals & Stock Recon:
- Ensure proper onsite vehicle inspections administered to properly evaluate the vehicle, so we do not lose money on poorly valuated cars
- Understand vehicle condition, negotiate price, make financially sound purchasing decisions and ensure timely processing of all purchases.
- If cars are not up to our standard’s after being evaluated by the workshop within, 48 hours of arrival at the workshop, it must be returned.
- The buyer retains the right to override a workshop “RTS” of a vehicle, in this case the relevant document must be signed in which the buyer takes over responsibility for any losses or comebacks.
- Check the following: specs are as described by seller, year, model, trade and retail values are all as seller confirmed
- Buyer must do a price comparison using auto trader and other methods before purchasing vehicle for stock.
- The offered price must match the description of the vehicle, material discrepancies must be compensated for by the supplier.
- A formal record of problem vehicles ‘covered’ must be implemented which will detail the description, year model, extras, service history,
