The main job of our Barista is ensuring that a customer smiles! From the moment a customer walks in, our Barista is involved in creating a memorable customer experience. This is done through eye contact and specific verbiage that is part of the shop culture and rules. Must be equipped to help customers make an informed decision about their beverage and food choice, take a clear order from the cashier and execute that order in a consistent manner. Our Barista must take pride not only in the coffee they deliver with a smile but also in their work station, having a clean work area. Must be happy to work in a team and focus on the greater good.
Responsibilities
• The core value of friendliness is the primary responsibility of our Barista.
• Greet ALL customers by name as they pass your station and say “thank you for being here / dankie dat jy hier is”.
• Take orders from the Cashier.
• Prepare coffee order as received from Cashier.
• Deliver orders with a smile and reinforce the customer’s name and make sure “thank you for being here / “dankie dat jy hier is” is the last thing the customer hears.
• Set-up grinders and espresso throughout the day.
• Clean and restock workstation.
• Clean and restock the sugar station.
• Empty trash and sanitize equipment.
• Stay up-to-date on brewing methods, use the equipment, presentation techniques to improve the customer’s experience.
• Able to advise customers on their orders and selection and make recommendations.
• Report adequately on inventory and stock needs, replenish consumables and maintain order on and behind the counter.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and quality control measures.
• Adhere to a checklist for start, middle and end of the day and make process improvement suggestions.
• Help with optimal operation of the shop at all times, even if that means working outside of your role for the good of the overall.
• It's important that all checklists for your role are always followed.
Approximately one week of training time from zero skills base.

• Previous Barista experience is preferable but not required.
