Job Summary
Our client is looking for a Commercial Refrigeration Technician to manage and maintain the refrigeration lab within their Refrigeration Manufacturing Plant. Assist with problem solving and site commissioning. Constantly evaluate opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce cost while improving quality and longevity. Assist the Sales Team with technical information.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain our clients test lab
- Process, interpret and prepare test date to compile test reports
- Design and improve refrigeration systems and components
- Ensure swift and efficient product qualification
- Manage site testing and data logging programs
- Manage and maintain test equipment
- Lead new Research and Development projects
- Assist with refrigeration design for new products
- Do compressor, liquid line component and controller selections
- Manage setup parameters of refrigeration products
- Manage technical database for products
- Liaise with consulting engineers and attend site meetings as require
- Liaise with refrigeration contractors and provide appropriate technical solutions
- Build strong relationships with contactor partners and provide technical support and training as required
- Provide customer and on-site support as required to end user
- Lead and manage certain project warranty processes and supplier warranty claims
- Provide technical support
- Develop technical specifications documentation
- Provide technical assistance to spares department
- Design new optimized versions of products in the existing product portfolio for continuous product improvement
- Assist management by providing technical solutions and quotations as required
- Prepare engineering instructions, technical manuals and laboratory tests
- Supervise commissioning of new control systems on display cabinets
- Source cost efficient components and materials
- Requisition special bought out components that are not in stock
- Assist with engineering change procedures
- Assist with engineering instructions
Requirements:
- National Diploma in Refrigeration Technician, Mechanical Engineering or any related qualification
- Valid SAQCC Authorized practitioner’s card (Category C-Inspector)
- Minimum 5 years with hands-on experience and strong fault-finding skills
- Preferably 2-years’ experience in CO2 Transcritical System Installation, commissioning and maintenance
- Experience in design and application of refrigeration systems
- Must be willing to travel often
- Computer literate, especially MS Excel
- Assertive, detailed and able to motivate and lead others
- Proactive and have the desire to add value in a progressive organization
- Ability to work well independently and/or as part of a team
