Job Summary
A vacancy currently exists for the position of Shipping and Logistics Coordinator based in Johannesburg.
Primary Purpose of Role: this position is to ensure the smooth and efficient coordination of product deliveries and logistics operations. This includes managing deliveries, overseeing costings, liaising with forwarders and suppliers, monitoring shipments, and maintaining accurate shipping data. Additionally, this position involves handling documentation, addressing delays and discrepancies, and supporting the preparation of invoices.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Order processing including all administrative duties, i.e., Sending, confirming, payment preparation.
- Obtaining airfreight/courier quotations and arranging relevant collections
- Ensures the efficient and accurate processing of the capturing of costings.
- Liaise with forwarders regarding relevant documentation and ensuring correct costs are received.
- Liaise with forwarders to ensure timely shipment clearance and delivery, including submission of documentation for customs clearance.
- Plan and monitor deliveries with the Receiving Department, both daily and weekly
- Reject damaged items, record shortages and corresponds with suppliers to rectify damages and shortages.
- Follow up on delays, late deliveries, backorders and escalation of issues and concerns.
- Ensures correct shipping data is captured into SAP.
- Assist with managing of reports in the department.
- Serve as a liaison with finance for the preparation of invoices for month end payments.
- Temporarily assume managerial duties, including meetings and reporting during the manager’s absence
- Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 (pre-requisite)
- Degree / diploma -Shipping and logistics highly beneficial
- At least one to 3 -5 years’ experience in shipping and logistics
- International Shipping & Handling experience
- Knowledge of Sea Freight Import
- Customer service and negotiation experience
- Understanding costings, budgets, and financial aspects of the shipping and logistics operations
- Excellent communications skills (both verbal and written)
- PC literacy: SAP, Excel, and Word essential (Qwix experience beneficial)
- Excellent listening skills

- Knowledge of Sea Freight Import
