Job Summary
The Transport Manager will be responsible for:
- Scheduling and monitoring large truck fleet
- Ensure the Controllers are continuously monitoring the fleet at all times
- Collaborate with our in-house truck workshop to ensure vehicles are properly maintained and roadworthy
- Managing drivers, administrators, controllers and scheduler/s
- Managing the driver training process (truck and truck mounted crane and attachment or skip, roro mechanism and tipper)
- Keep track of and account for all diesel consumption
- Ensure that all customer transport requirements are completed timeously
- Ensure that all drivers have the correct documentation and equipment.
- Written and verbal reporting to, and communication with management is accurate and timely
QUALIFYING CRITERIA
- Transportation management diploma or equivalent will be an advantage.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a busy transport environment
- Leadership experience and management of a team
- Computer proficiency; packages required : MS Word, Excel and outlook
QUALIFYING ATTRIBUTES
- Self-motivated, accurate, goal orientated and attention to detail.
- Able to analyse and implement verbal instructions.
- Ability to multi-task and manage demanding workload in a pressurised environment.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines and deliver results (time management).
- Excellent communication, telephone & organizational skills
- Ability work independently and within a team
- Great customer skills
