Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Underwriter who can handle commercial underwriting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing risk, evaluating insurance applications, and ensuring sound underwriting decisions that align with company policies and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate commercial insurance applications.
- Determine risk levels and set appropriate coverage terms, premiums, and conditions.
- Analyse financial reports, claims history, and policyholder data.
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, agents, and clients.
- Provide technical underwriting support and mentorship to junior underwriters.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Senior Underwriter handling commercial lines.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- In-depth knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and policy wording.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Minimum 5 years experiences in short term insurance
- Minimum qualification NQF level 4
Note: Our client can consider candidates that reside in Pietermaritzburg or Upper Highway (KZN) area.
