Job Summary
Exciting opportunity available for a driven Maintenance Fitter to join a dynamic fast growing FMCG manufacturing business as part of the maintenance team in Port Elizabeth.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Conducting and coordinating all maintenance on machinery and equipment in the departments.
- Completing maintenance checks and programs for each machine as per schedule.
- Building an inventory of spares for the machines and controlling spares usage and costs.
- Properly maintaining maintenance records as per requirement.
- Identification and achievement of measurable technical and process developments and improvements.
- Attending to breakdowns.
- Ordering of necessary equipment and tools for the factory when necessary.
- Attending relevant meetings i.e. Production Meetings, etc where necessary.
- Assist production in achieving optimum efficiencies.
- Fault identification, fixing of root cause analysis and ensuring the accurate completion of production logs and job cards.
- Advising on and implementing technical and cost-effective improvements where appropriate.
- Ensuring a safe working environment by adhering to safety procedures.
- Be available for callouts after hours.
- Ensuring that the maintenance work is performed in terms of agreed expectations, timelines, and company standards.
- Coach, mentor and train apprentices as may be required.
Requirements
- Must have completed a Trade Test or relevant artisan qualification.
- Qualified Red Seal Artisan.
- Experienced in welding of stainless steel, mild steel and alloy steel will be advantageous but not essential.
- Have at least 5 post-qualifying years of experience in a production environment/maintenance environment.
- Valid drivers license.
- An ability to interact with employees at different levels.
- Collaborator with strong focus on integrity, honesty and willingness to assist at different sites within Port Elizabeth as per company requirements.
- Able to perform duties in line with maintenance program and continuous improvements.
- Identify and solve problems effectively.
- Logical, systematic approach with the ability to do minor electronic fault-finding will be advantageous.
- A passion for the quality of work performed.
- Good communication skills.
- A willingness to work overtime when necessary.
- HACCP and GMP knowledge will be advantageous.
- Experience within food industry is not essential but will be advantageous.
- Experience working with boilers, ovens and packing machines will be advantageous.
