Job Summary
PBT Group is seeking an experienced Data Business Analyst to join a dynamic team responsible for developing a leading-edge investment platform. The successful candidate will play a critical role in analysing and interpreting complex data sets, designing business models, and driving actionable insights to support strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis and Interpretation:
- Conduct advanced data cleaning and wrangling to handle unstructured data from multiple sources.
- Analyse large, complex datasets using tools like SQL and Power BI to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Draw relevant inferences and contextualise findings within a business framework to support decision-making processes.
Business Modelling and Performance Analysis:
- Design and implement business performance models to achieve strategic objectives.
- Monitor and refine performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of implemented strategies.
- Identify patterns within complex datasets and collaborate with stakeholders to refine data-driven approaches.
Data Visualisation and Storytelling:
- Develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI to provide actionable insights across business functions.
- Create visualisations to communicate patterns, trends, and business model results effectively.
Data Quality Management:
- Implement and maintain data quality standards and procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to address and resolve data quality issues.
Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration:
- Engage with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and financial experts, to design and implement data-driven solutions.
- Communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders clearly and concisely, enabling data-driven decisions.
- Participate in data governance initiatives and provide training for stakeholders on dashboards and models created.
Documentation and Process Improvement:
- Maintain and store all data processes, policies, and best practices in a centralised repository visible to the organisation.
- Ensure continuous improvement by staying abreast of industry trends and advocating for new technologies to drive business value.
Skills and Tools Required
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data analysis and statistical modelling.
- Strong experience in Power BI for dashboard creation, data source management, and model design.
- Expertise in Snowflake, including building and maintaining Snowflake Views and implementing corresponding dataflows.
- Knowledge of Denodo, including creating and managing Data Virtualisation Views, metadata management, and data catalogues.
- Solid understanding of data modelling, visualisation techniques, and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with data protection regulations and privacy standards.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and storytelling abilities to present complex findings clearly.
- Analytical and critical thinking with a focus on problem-solving.
- Confidence to engage with and present to senior leadership.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Investment Management, Information Management, Computer Science, or Business Management.
- Certification in data analytics or visualisation tools is advantageous.
Experience:
- 10 years of experience in a Data Analytics environment, with at least:
- 5 years as a Data Analyst or Business Intelligence Specialist.
- 5 years of SQL experience.
- 5 years of Power BI experience.
- Experience in the Asset Management or Investment Platform industries is highly desirable.
- Proven track record in creating business/data models using complex and disparate data sets.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and effectively convey intricate findings.
- Exposure to other data visualisation tools is advantageous.
