Field Service Technician / Diesel Mechanic

Our client is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join their team in Midrand, GP. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to both local and international customers, ensuring the installation, servicing, and maintenance of capital equipment. This role requires physical and mental resilience, a problem-solving mindset, and a willingness to travel extensively.Responsibilities:
- Shadow senior technicians to learn company processes and technical requirements.
- Problem-solving, advising, and offering solutions while gathering necessary information for servicing customers and products across Africa.
- Installation, commissioning, decommissioning, training, certification, and handover of locally manufactured and imported capital equipment.
- Conduct minor on-site preventative maintenance inspections and repairs.
- Perform major off-site repairs and refurbishments on equipment.
- Act as the company’s appointed representative onsite, including compliance with MHSA 2.9.2 and 2.6.1. (First Aid Training and Certification will be provided.)
- Work at heights up to 6m with appropriate training and certification.
- Comply with company policies requiring employees to be medically and mentally fit and maintain a sober lifestyle.
- Adapt to physically and mentally demanding tasks as required.
- Travel by road and air and spend extended periods away from home.
Requirements:
- Valid passport, ID, and driver’s license (Code 08).
- Physically and mentally fit to handle demanding work conditions.
- Willingness to travel and be away from home for several weeks at a time.
- Some knowledge of hydraulics and electrics (training provided).
- Ability to work at heights (training provided).
- Salary: negotiable.
