Job Summary
Role Overview:
The purpose of this role is to develop, define, and implement measures to meet customer quality requirements by preventing issues and continuously improving products and services within an acceptable timeframe. This position is accountable for quality features and standards within a specific group, including dimensional evaluation of components for series measurements, 1st off samples, final approval, BMG testing, audit fault investigations, field complaints, supplier development, and calibration of various measuring instruments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, introduce, monitor, and maintain measuring systems to provide proactive quality services in alignment with national and international standards for series measurements and part development.
- Analyze, coordinate, and implement corrective actions for discrepancies reported to ensure timely and efficient customer service while maintaining quality standards.
- Ensure measuring equipment complies with international standards and the companies Konzern specifications.
- Assist in training and supervising trainees, junior technicians, and new employees, helping to develop a strong team of metrology technicians.
- Provide measurement and SPC data to assist in management decision-making and Konzern evaluations.
- Perform dimensional calibration of company fixtures, gauges, measuring instruments, and torque testing tools, ensuring accuracy throughout their service life in accordance with ISO17025 standards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- National Diploma/NN Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Trade Test Certificate in Tool Making
Experience:
- 3-5 years of relevant working experience within the automotive environment
- At least 2 years of experience in parts alignment, set-up, and dimensional evaluation
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of Metrology Symbols & Elements (VIM)
- Practical experience with Dimensional Measuring Equipment & Instruments
- Proficiency in 3D interpretation of CAD models and technical drawings
- Knowledge of communication between measuring facilities and software
- Experience with CMM or CNC programming
- Excellent presentation and report writing skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Strong decision-making and prioritization skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office & CAD)
- Strong analytical skills with a creative problem-solving approach
