Brief Role Description
Based in Sandton within the Company Brand department, the successful incumbent will be responsible for supporting the development of strategic product plans which the competitive advantage of the company passenger vehicle brand and secure the planned volumes and market share, coordination of product specification through the system development process to ensure that local and FBU vehicles are correctly positioned.
Possible Tasks within this Role
Analysis of market / competitor, product, price and promotion developments within the motor industry and assessing implications for the brand by continually bench marking company products vs competitor offering
Development of strategic product plans to satisfy customer requirements and the brand’s volume / share objective in terms of rationale, range specification, target retail pricing, etc.
Presentation, for approval, of product plans to various forums (e.g. PMM, Product Teams)
Collecting information and feedback from marketing on cross- divisional teams, forums and other channels prior to finalizing product plans.
Implementation of product plans as marketing representative in cross divisional project team meetings.
Formulation of company passenger vehicle specification and ordering guides for the vehicle ordering system.
Co-ordination of meetings and negotiation of product plans with dealer council.
Development of product bulletins for the dealer organization regarding all product innovation or changes.
Approval of point of sales material in terms of product specification in text, visuals and table for accuracy (includes websites specification and pricing).
Planning and implementation of feasibility studies for potential models to be imported into South Africa, including vehicles clinics.
Planning and implementation all company passenger FBU models utilizing the Group MBV system.
Maintaining the Group MBV system to ensure all vehicle specifications are accurate.
Maintaining and distributing vehicle specification information to the organization in illustrating key differences and similarities to competitor offerings.
Co-ordinating & facilitation of the launch management process to ensure all areas of the NSO organization and related systems, including compliance topics are updated for relevant models
Qualification requirements
A formal 3-year bachelor’s degree/National Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution, preferably in Commerce/ Business Science/ Engineering.
Experience needed
Minimum of 3 years product planning experience (Previous product planning experience in automotive industry will be ideal). or 3 years ‘experience in sales forecasting/ market research/brand management/ engineering in the automotive industry.
