Assistant Restaurant Manager – Upmarket Restaurant, Cape Town
An upmarket restaurant in Cape Town is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager to support daily operations and ensure an exceptional dining experience. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a passion for hospitality, strong operational skills, and the ability to manage a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily front-of-house and back-of-house operations.
- Lead and motivate the service team, ensuring exceptional customer service and a welcoming atmosphere.
- Manage staff scheduling, training, and performance to maintain service excellence.
- Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and ensure cost control.
- Handle guest relations, resolving any service issues efficiently and professionally.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.
- Assist with marketing and promotions, including social media and special events.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth communication and efficient service.
- Oversee cash-ups, financial reporting, and budget control as required.
Requirements:
- South African ID or valid work permit.
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role within an upmarket restaurant.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team.
- Excellent knowledge of restaurant operations, service standards, and customer satisfaction.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Well-presented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
