Job Summary
The company is looking for a Production Supervisor to work as part of the supervisory team in the Operations Department. The ideal candidate has experience in the FMCG industry. The job incumbent will supervise the Production employees, and will report to the Assistant Production Manager.
Duties:
- Adhering to and maintaining food safety, health, quality and hygiene standards at all times
- Adhering to and implementing standard operating procedures and the quality management system
- Overseeing and ensuring employees are complying with all food safety, health, quality and hygiene standards at all times
- Mitigating food safety and health & safety risks in the factory
- Conducting visual inspections of employees’ personal hygiene and factory hygiene standards
- Overseeing and supervising the activities and HR administration of the Production Team (leave, time, attendance, discipline, performance, training)
- Performing verification checks on all equipment and machinery
- Overseeing the completion and accurate record-keeping of all production and quality documentation done by Production employees (paper and electronic records)
- Identifying training needs and ensuring relevant training is facilitated for employees
- Reporting production, quality, manufacturing, equipment, machinery, food safety and health & safety deviations
- Investigating, suggesting improvements and rectifying deviations in the factory
- Conducting visual inspections of all in-process products and activities of staff
- Implementing recommended activities to action non-conformances and deviations
- Continuous communication of production targets, errors, non-conformances, deviations and other production-related information
- Raising job cards on iComply
- Monitoring movement of materials on D365
- Coordinating and conducting stock counts and other stock control measures
- Ensuring there are sufficient raw materials for daily production
- Maintaining all housekeeping standards at all times
- Acting as a Health & Safety Committee member
- Providing reasonable ad-hoc assistance as necessary
Requirements:
- N4 or relevant qualification or experience equivalent to a formal qualification (at least 3 years)
- At least five years’ experience working in an FMCG environment / food industry
- Expanded knowledge of the Food Industry and Standards in South Africa (e.g. HACCP, ISO, FSSC)
- Experience and/or certification in Occupational Health and Safety
- At least 3 years of experience in a team leader/supervisory role
- Computer literate (MS Office, especially Excel and ERP systems: D365, iComply)
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Excellent administrative record-keeping and filing (manual / electronic)
- Strong supervisory / people management skills
- High attention to detail, organised and systematic
- Must be willing and able to work shifts
