Job Summary
Main job function: Our client based in the Pietermaritzburg area is seeking a highly skilled Risk and Legal Compliance Manager . This individual will be responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of safety, health, environmental, risk management, quality management systems and legal compliance programs within the organization. Key Functions include: Manage and control all activities related to safety and health at all locations Ensure the company complies with the environmental laws at all locations Assume overall accountability for risk management within the company Ensure full compliance with South African laws and regulations, and where applicable any international laws. Prepare and submit reports to management, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders on safety, health, quality, environmental, risk, and legal compliance. Coordinate internal and external audits on safety, environmental, quality management and legal compliance. Engage with regulatory bodies, government departments, and local communities to address concerns related to safety, environmental impact, and legal compliance. Provide effective leadership of staff. Minimum Requirements: LLB / BSc / BSc Agric: with focus on Environmental Science, Honors/Masters with focus on Environmental Law preferred. SHEQ Safety Officer/Manager Certificate (SHE Rep preferred). HIRA or Incident Investigation Certificate. Quality systems certification. ISO Auditor Qualification (9001, 14001) certificate. FSC Auditor Qualification (or similar forestry QMS) certificate. Computer literate in Microsoft 365. Ability to speak, write and communicate effectively in English. FSC Auditor Qualification (or similar forestry QMS) certificate. Computer literate in Microsoft 365. Ability to speak, write and communicate effectively in English. Clear criminal record.
