This is an opportunity to join their dynamic team and contribute to their success as an Alternative Investment Analyst. The primary purpose of this role is to evaluate private market investment opportunities, including South African and African private equity managers, secondaries, and co-investments. The successful candidate will provide in-depth analysis and strategic recommendations to the Alternative Investments Investment Committee. Key Responsibilities: Conduct research and maintain detailed coverage of private equity, private debt, and infrastructure managers, including secondary and co-investment opportunities. Develop robust financial models to project returns and assess various scenarios impacting fund performance. Maintain databases and valuation models to support decision-making processes. Perform investment due diligence on managers and opportunities, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Prepare and present comprehensive proposals to the Investment Committee for primary, secondary, and co-investment opportunities. Oversee liquidity management for private market funds, including capital calls and distributions. Generate monthly performance reports and quarterly updates for private equity, private debt, and infrastructure portfolios. Stay informed on external market conditions and conduct competitor analyses to identify strengths and weaknesses. Analyze portfolios and financial instruments based on mandate requirements and business objectives. Provide insights and recommendations to optimize portfolio construction and management. Promote the organization's investment philosophy and ensure alignment across stakeholders. Collaborate with internal and external teams to identify investment opportunities and implement asset allocation strategies. Evaluate and measure the social and environmental impact of investments in the impact investing space using established metrics. Build and maintain strong relationships with fund managers, external investors, and internal stakeholders. Requirements: A Bachelors degree in Finance, Investment Management, or a related field (BCom). Professional designations such as CFA, CA, or CAIA are advantageous. Minimum of 3 years experience in investments, with exposure to private markets preferred. Commitment to studying for RE 5 FAIS qualification to register as a Category II representative. Competencies: Expertise in manager and asset class research. Strong analytical skills for due diligence and decision-making. Excellent relationship management and networking abilities. High level of external market awareness and interpretation skills. Proficient in reporting, teamwork, and cross-functional collaboration. Capable of presenting proposals and performance reports to various stakeholders.
