Job Summary
Planet Fitness is looking for a creative and motivated Social Media Specialist to join our marketing team. In this role, you will help develop and execute social media content that connects with our audience, enhances brand awareness, and drives engagement across all platforms. You’ll work closely with the Marketing Digital Lead to implement our overall social media strategy while keeping your finger on the pulse of trends and conversations in the fitness and wellness space.
The ideal candidate is a social media enthusiast who has experience in content creation, community management, and platform-specific best practices. You should be detail-oriented, and passionate about creating meaningful online interactions.
Key Responsisbilities.
- Content Collaboration & Scheduling: Work closely with the Content Creator to help develop creatives. Schedule engaging content tailored to each social platform (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, YouTube).
- Platform Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of our social media channels, including posting, monitoring, and responding to user interactions and questions in a timely and engaging manner.
- Community Engagement: Engage and connect with relevant audiences on social media platforms to increase reach and foster engagement. This includes participating in conversations, following trends, and interacting with content that aligns with Planet Fitness’ brand to grow our online presence.
- Trend Monitoring: Stay current with platform updates, social media trends, and industry conversations. Make recommendations to enhance our content and strategy.
- Performance Reporting: Track and analyse key performance metrics (e.g., engagement rates, reach, impressions, follower growth). Report findings and provide recommendations for content improvement.
- Collaborate with Marketing Teams: Work closely with the content, creative, and marketing teams to ensure that social content is aligned with the broader marketing strategy and brand message.
- Hashtag & Keyword Research: Identify and implement relevant hashtags and keywords to boost visibility and engagement on posts.
- Content Creator Engagement: Assist in identifying and connecting with content creators for potential partnerships or collaborations to produce engaging and authentic content that aligns with Planet Fitness’ brand values and goals.
- Paid Social Support: Work with the advertising team to assist in creating and optimising paid social campaigns to complement organic efforts.
- Campaign Support: Help execute social media campaigns for product launches, promotions, and seasonal events in alignment with Planet Fitness' overall goals.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience managing social media platforms, preferably within the fitness, wellness, or lifestyle industries.
- Proven expertise in key platforms: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, YouTube.
- Experience with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Loomly, Vista).
- Knowledge of content creation and design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Meta Blueprint Certification or other relevant social media certifications (e.g., Google Analytics for Social Media, Hootsuite Social Media Marketing Certification, Twitter Flight School, TikTok Learning) are required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for crafting engaging and on-brand captions.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with analytics tools and reporting (e.g., Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite).
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- A passion for fitness, wellness, or community building is a plus.
