Main purpose of the job:

• To collect biological samples from study participants

Location:

• DPHRU - Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Soweto – Johannesburg

Key performance areas:

• Appointment making
• Participant retention – Calling and fieldwork tracing
• Data collection in the field
• Provide study information and administer informed consent to study participants
• Collect biological samples
• Administering the Oral Glucose Tolerance test (OGTT)
• Collecting blood samples from paediatric participants
• Provide clinical referrals
• Accompanying emergencies to casualty
• Administer questionnaires
• Able to capture data into the online platform (REDCap) in real time
• Develop and provide reports as required by the study coordinator
• Management and procurement of clinic consumables

Required minimum education and training:

• Matric
• Qualified as an Enrolled Nurse
• Valid Driver’s License
• Computer Literacy

Required minimum work experience:

• 2-3 Years’ experience in a research field

Professional body registration:

• Registered with the South African Nursing Council

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:

• Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Must have strong organizational and report writing skills
• Must be able to communicate effectively with study participants and the coordinator

Criteria to be addressed in the applicant’s cover letter:
