Job Summary
Main purpose of the job:
- To collect biological samples from study participants
Location:
- DPHRU - Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Soweto – Johannesburg
Key performance areas:
- Appointment making
- Participant retention – Calling and fieldwork tracing
- Data collection in the field
- Provide study information and administer informed consent to study participants
- Collect biological samples
- Administering the Oral Glucose Tolerance test (OGTT)
- Collecting blood samples from paediatric participants
- Provide clinical referrals
- Accompanying emergencies to casualty
- Administer questionnaires
- Able to capture data into the online platform (REDCap) in real time
- Develop and provide reports as required by the study coordinator
- Management and procurement of clinic consumables
Required minimum education and training:
- Matric
- Qualified as an Enrolled Nurse
- Valid Driver’s License
- Computer Literacy
Required minimum work experience:
- 2-3 Years’ experience in a research field
Professional body registration:
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Must have strong organizational and report writing skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively with study participants and the coordinator
