Job Summary
The successful incumbent will be responsible for the below:
- Will be appointed as a 2.6.1 manager by the 3.1 Mine manager.
- Will be reporting daily directly to the project manager.
- Observe and enforce all codes of practices, instructions, guidelines, directives, permissions, exemptions and other similar instructions, which should be communicated to you in writing by the project manager and the mine.
- Be responsible for proper discipline of all persons under your charge.
- Provide and maintain a working environment that is safe and without risk to the health and safety of employees within your area of responsibility.
- Assist the H&S Officer in identify relevant hazards and assess the related risk within your areas of responsibility.
- Written reports weekly on progress to the project manager.
- Monitor the communication groups and report accordingly.
- Efficient daily, weekly and monthly planning.
- Be responsible for the booking of dispatch loads and collections from different areas on the mine.
- Managing the loading and cutting of scrap in your area.
- Providing professional, efficient and accurate feedback to the project manager.
- Monitoring the progress of the project and adjusting goals to achieve optimal profitability in collaboration with the project manager
- Ensuring machinery and equipment is in good working order and is maintained as per maintenance schedules.
- Be responsible to do over inspections and report any deviations to the project manager.
Qualifying experience:
- Matric / Grade 12
- HIRA certification
- Diploma or degree in Project management will be an added advantage
- Previous experience in a managerial role is essential
- Previous demolition experience an added advantage
- 3 years’ working experience in production, heavy engineering or mining environment
- Knowledge of processing ferrous and non-ferrous materials
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Valid drivers’ license
- Own reliable transport
- Experience in discipline and IR
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
- Extensive knowledge of all scrap processing machinery
- Computer literacy - proficient in MS Office, internet and e-mail.
