Job Summary
Hire Resolve's Client is looking for a Project Developer with Renewable Energy experience to join their team in Gqeberha.
The primary responsibility of the Project Developer is to acquire all necessary land rights, permits, and licenses for the lawful establishment and operation of Wind, Solar PV, and/or BESS projects.
Responsibilities:
Project Origination and Development:
- Identify potential renewable energy projects.
- Conduct initial risk assessments and site visits.
- Negotiate land lease agreements and secure land parcels.
Commercial Negotiations and Regulatory Compliance:
- Facilitate negotiations for agreements such as land leases, servitudes, and environmental impact assessments.
- Secure permits, licenses, and authorizations from government departments and regulatory bodies.
Budget and Stakeholder Management:
- Manage internal and external consultant costs within development budgets.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders, including opponents and Interested and Affected Parties.
Risk Mitigation and Due Diligence:
- Develop strategies to mitigate risks and secure necessary permits and licenses.
- Coordinate due diligence processes for project acquisitions and financial close.
Renewable Energy Procurement Support:
- Assist in the company's participation in Renewable Energy IPP Procurement Programs and private off-taker bid submissions.
- Support Project Director during financial close and compliance with regulatory standards.
Relationship Building and Market Monitoring:
- Foster relationships with consultants, regulatory authorities, landowners, and partners.
- Monitor market developments and identify opportunities and threats to the company's strategy.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in B Tech, BSC science/engineering, or B Com.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a renewable energy Project Developer in South Africa.
- Proficiency in project management, negotiation, and contract management.
- Knowledge of rural South African context, administrations, environmental law, and BBB-EE code.
- Sound understanding of MS Office tools and willingness to travel with a valid driver's license.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for various audiences.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
