Field Service Technician
Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Field Service Technician to join our team. This position involves supporting the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment for customers both locally and across Africa. The ideal candidate is a motivated individual eager to learn and grow, with a willingness to travel and work in demanding environments.
Responsibilities:
- Shadow senior technicians to learn company procedures and technical processes.
- Provide problem-solving, technical advice, and support to local and international customers.
- Perform installation, commissioning, decommissioning, training, certification, and handover of equipment.
- Conduct minor on-site preventative maintenance inspections and repairs.
- Execute major off-site repairs and refurbishments of equipment.
- Act as the company’s appointed representative onsite, ensuring compliance with MHSA 2.9.2 and 2.6.1 regulations.
- Safely work at heights (up to 6m) following required gravity training.
- Travel frequently by road and air, with extended stays away from home when necessary.
- Maintain a professional and compliant approach in adherence to company and mine safety policies.
Requirements:
- Valid passport, South African ID, and driver’s license (Code 08 minimum).
- Physically and mentally fit with sober habits.
- Ability to work in physically and mentally demanding conditions.
- Willingness to travel and spend time away from home.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulics and electrics (advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided).
- Comfort working at heights (training and certification provided).
- Level one first aid certification (training provided).
- Strong problem-solving and technical skills with a customer-focused mindset.
