Job Summary
Hire Resolve's client is looking for a Category Manager – Central Procurement to join their team in the Northern Cape. In this role, you will develop and implement category strategies, manage supplier relationships, and drive cost savings and efficiency across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute category strategies to improve procurement costs, service, and quality.
- Manage supplier relationships to meet cost, quality, and service targets.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives across procurement functions.
- Negotiate and manage procurement contracts to ensure compliance and alignment with goals.
- Lead and mentor the category management team to achieve objectives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business goals.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory, and legal requirements.
- Maintain high work ethics and adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering (NQF Level 7).
- Postgraduate Degree / MBA in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years’ operational category management experience in the mining sector.
- Minimum 5 years’ supplier negotiation and contract management experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ team leadership and management experience.
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of procurement financials.
- Proven expertise in category strategy development and supplier relationship management.
- Excellent negotiation skills and ability to achieve cost savings.
- Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Driver’s License – Code B/EB.
- Medically fit as per the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996.
- Accredited Supply Chain Professional (e.g., CIPS) preferred.
- Willingness to travel between operational sites.
