Hire Resolve's client, a toy retailer, is currently seeking a Retail Buyer (Category Manager - Electronics) to join their organisation in Durban, KZN. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing and selecting a range of consumer electronics products while ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives and customer demands.

This role offers a dynamic challenge in a fast-paced retail environment, allowing you to leverage your expertise in buying and category management to drive sales and profitability.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement category strategies for consumer electronics that align with overall business objectives
• Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities within the electronics category
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to maximize profitability
• Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and manage vendor performance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing and sales, to optimize product assortment and promotions
• Monitor inventory levels and adjust purchasing strategies based on sales performance
• Analyse sales data to make informed decisions about merchandise planning and product selection
• Stay informed about industry trends and competitor landscape to ensure competitiveness in the marketplace

Requirements:

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (with Retail Buying as a subject)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in retail buying, specifically within the electronics category
• Strong negotiation skills and proven track record of successful supplier management
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and consumer trends
• Proficient in using buying software and tools
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
