Job Summary
There is an opportunity available in Sandton for experienced Sea Freight Controllers.
Expected duties: Operational Oversight - Coordinate Sea Freight operations, including booking cargo, container loading, documentation, and customs clearance. Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the company's transportation management systems (TMS) or relevant software. Monitor vessel schedules, port activities, and shipping routes to optimize shipment planning and minimize delays.
Customer Service - Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining strong customer relationships. Collaborate with customer service teams to provide accurate and timely updates to clients regarding shipment status and potential delays.
Compliance and Documentation - Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, import/export laws, and maritime safety standards. Verify and prepare necessary shipping documents, such as bills of lading, certificates of origin, and customs declarations.
Monitor and control sea freight-related expenses, including freight rates, demurrage charges, and other associated costs. Collaborate with shipping lines, carriers, freight forwarders, and other service providers to negotiate rates, secure capacity, and resolve operational issues. Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry partners to ensure smooth operations and timely resolution of challenges and more.
