Job Summary
The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day solar operations of the company, ensuring that all processes are running smoothly and efficiently. This role will require excellent leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to make strategic decisions that will impact the overall success of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical insights and input during the development stages of solar installation projects.
- Assist with accurate quoting based on site specifications, product selection, and technical requirements.
- Ensure all necessary stock, equipment, and materials are prepared before project commencement.
- Oversee procurement processes and maintain accurate stock records for ongoing projects.
- Liaise with the warehouse and logistics team to ensure timely delivery of materials to sites.
- Manage installation processes for residential, commercial, and agricultural projects, ensuring timely and budget-friendly completion.
- Coordinate with clients and subcontractors to ensure project specifications are met.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations on-site, including proper PPE usage and adherence to protocols.
- Collaborate with the Health and Safety Officer to keep site safety files updated.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure installations meet the highest standards.
- Conduct post-installation inspections and address any workmanship issues or defects.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients during projects, providing updates and addressing concerns.
- Resolve client escalations or complaints related to project execution promptly.
- Manage project budgets, track expenses, and report on financial performance.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high installation quality.
- Oversee the technical support team handling client callouts, service calls, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure timely responses to technical issues, prioritizing urgent matters and minimizing downtime.
- Monitor team performance, including response time targets and issue resolution.
- Address escalated support tickets and ensure prompt, satisfactory resolution of client issues.
- Oversee internal and external installation teams, ensuring quality workmanship and efficient operations.
- Manage and evaluate the performance of team leaders and subcontractors, providing feedback and implementing improvements.
- Oversee daily team operations, including timekeeping, attendance, and work allocation.
- Conduct employee performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and guidance for professional development.
- Approve overtime requests and manage allocation based on project demands and budget constraints.
- Approve leave requests, ensuring team coverage and project continuity.
- Handle employee disputes, grievances, or disciplinary actions in consultation with HR.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in operations management, preferably in solar, renewable energy, or electrical contracting industries.
- Proven track record of managing installation projects across residential, commercial, and agricultural sectors.
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems and electrical installations.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and supply chain processes.
- Experience in leading teams and managing personnel effectively.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Financial acumen with experience in budget and cost management.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
