Our client a national law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Secretary to join their teams in Durban and Johannesburg. The ideal candidate must amongst others, be highly efficient, possess strong secretarial and administrative skills and be proficient in technology and software. This role supports attorneys handling Banking Law and Litigation, including foreclosure and insolvency matters.
Key responsibilities:
· Provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to attorneys in the Banking Law and Litigation department.
· Draft, format and manage legal documents, pleadings and correspondence.
· Maintain and organise case files, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines.
· Diary management.
· Liaise with third parties such as court officials and sheriffs as well as client staff.
· Utilise various legal practice management systems and platforms efficiently.
· Prepare and process billing, invoices and legal cost tracking.
Requirements:
· Minimum 3 years' experience as a Litigation Secretary in a law firm.
· Strong typing and dictation skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Court Online, CaseLines and legal software (or willingness to learn).
· Experience working with financial institutions is advantageous.
· Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Knowledge of foreclosure, insolvency and general litigation is highly beneficial.
