Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and strategic Sales and Marketing Manager to lead and drive the promotion and sale of our products across Africa, leveraging our competitive edge in the rail industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of conducting business across multiple African markets, with a deep understanding of regional dynamics and key stakeholder engagement. Proficiency in French and/or Portuguese will be a distinct advantage.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a unique sales strategy, designing engaging marketing campaigns, formulating pricing strategies, managing key accounts, and achieving ambitious sales and marketing targets.
The role requires a confident and analytical leader who can enhance brand presence, monitor competitor activities, and capitalize on emerging opportunities in both domestic and international markets.
Key Responsibilities
Promote existing products and spearhead the introduction of new offerings to both local and African markets.
Develop and implement innovative sales strategies tailored to regional markets across Africa.
Analyze market trends, conduct competitor analysis, and produce insightful reports for strategic decision-making.
Prepare annual sales budgets, monthly forecasts, and manage expenses to ensure financial and strategic objectives are achieved.
Conduct market research to understand customer needs, identify trends, and drive marketing improvements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners through regular engagement and solution-driven conversations.
Identify and respond to tender opportunities, attend briefing sessions, and manage submission processes.
Represent the company at regional events, conferences, and business meetings across Africa.
Monitor and improve sales processes, identifying operational gaps and implementing best practices.
Leverage digital platforms, including social media, to support marketing and brand awareness initiatives.
Education and Experience
Tertiary qualification in Sales, Marketing, Business, or Project Management (advantageous).
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within the rail, transport, or infrastructure sector.
Demonstrated experience in conducting business across African markets, with knowledge of regional business practices and stakeholder management.
Experience in compiling and submitting tenders and managing pre- and post-sales activities.
Strong customer-facing and negotiation skills with the ability to present to executive and international stakeholders.
Proven track record in business process improvement and marketing innovation.
Experience managing company social media and marketing campaigns.
Competencies and Skills
Multilingual abilities: French and/or Portuguese proficiency is highly beneficial.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively across South Africa and other African countries.
Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, able to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication, business writing, and presentation skills.
High attention to detail, strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Confident decision-maker who thrives under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and CRM systems.
Knowledge of project management and operational business systems.
Integrity, confidentiality, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Valid driver’s license and own vehicle essential.
