Job Summary
Main purpose of the job:
- To perform clinical assessments and coordinate recruitment
Location:
- 32 Princess of Wales Terrace, Parktown/ Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital/ Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital.
Key performance areas:
- Developing and implementing a recruitment plan together with the study coordinator and PI
- Monitoring the effectiveness of recruitment efforts
- Liaise with different sections onsite
- Actively engages with stakeholders and attend project meetings, as and when required
- Ensure systems and processes are being followed to ensure effective and efficient study
- Offering counselling and education to meet patient needs
- Support Investigators and In-patient Health Care Providers in care of trial patients
- Review patient results
- Report adverse events (AE’s) with Sub-Investigators
- Study full history of referred patients from other clinics and discusses the relevant risk factors
- Review case record forms daily.
- Proactively resolve protocol queries and missing data with staff
- Perform quality control of clinical source notes and electronic case reporting form (CRF's)
- Conduct regular clinical team meetings to identify, discuss and solve study queries
Required minimum education and training
- Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice (BCMP) degree.
Required minimum work experience:
- Minimum 2 years work experience
- The incumbent must have a valid driver’s license, and own car would be preferable
Professional Body Registration:
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate preferable
- Previous work in trials experience would be an added advantage
- Strong organizational abilities with attention to details
- Able to maintain confidentiality, diplomacy and professionalism at all times
- Proficient in using Microsoft products
- Able to produce reports
- Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Good communication skills are essential
