Job Summary
Our client based in Ottery, Cape Town is looking to appoint a passionate Product Designer to develop industry-leading artefacts and accessories for IBC liners and container liners.
Requirements:
- Industry experience of design for injection moulding i.e. applicants must have designed injection moulded parts that were/are in production.
- A tertiary qualification in Industrial Design or a relevant Engineering field.
- A good understanding of the process of tooling up for injection moulding.
- A good understanding of the process injection moulding conversion process.
- A creative problem solver.
- Mathematically strong.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, to support the systematic management and evaluation of data.
- Has a good technical understanding of a broad and applicable array of other materials and manufacturing processes.
- Has a comprehensive understanding of the principles of design for injection moulding, with the ability of apply optimally.
Portfolio Requirements
- A portfolio of relevant design material.
- Samples of injection moulded parts designed by the applicant.
- Native CAD files of the aforementioned parts.
- An excel spreadsheet, designed by the applicant, showing the applicants data management and analysis abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Interrogates requirements to identify design drivers.
- Willing and able to wrestle with complex and conflicting requirements and drives forward balanced solutions that deliver against mission objectives.
- Contributes high-quality ideas in brainstorming sessions.
- Familiar with advanced CAD techniques (including parametric modelling) and develops complex part models, drawings and assemblies.
- Effectively engages with suppliers and other stakeholders on technical matters to identify the optimal balance of design cost, CAPEX, and material cost.
- Develops design specifications that support efficient risk management.
- Independently plans and conducts best-practice critical evaluation, and can present results and lead with recommendations.
