Job Summary
PBT Group is seeking a Data Support Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in SQL, Unix, PHP, HTML, and Java to provide robust support for our data systems. This role requires flexibility to work shifts and handle standby duties, ensuring the seamless operation and availability of critical data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- System Monitoring and Support: Monitor and maintain data platforms, ensuring uptime and performance.
- Issue Resolution: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues within data environments, including databases, Unix-based systems, and web applications.
- Data Management: Handle data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) tasks using SQL and other relevant tools.
- Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts for process automation and operational efficiency.
- Web Application Support: Provide technical support for PHP and HTML-based applications, ensuring functionality and integration with backend systems.
- Incident Management: Respond to and resolve incidents efficiently during standby and shift work, adhering to SLA requirements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to address system improvements and ensure alignment with business needs.
- Documentation: Maintain up-to-date technical documentation, including issue logs, configuration changes, and operational procedures.
Skills & Experience Required
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux environments, including shell scripting.
- Hands-on experience with PHP, HTML, and Java for application support and development.
- Operational Skills:
- Experience with system monitoring and proactive issue resolution.
- Ability to work shifts and provide standby support, ensuring system availability.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and incident management practices.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities effectively.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (preferred).
- Relevant certifications in Unix/Linux, SQL, or IT support (advantageous).
