About the role
The company seeking a highly motivated Payroll Intern to join our team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and enthusiastic individual eager to gain hands-on experience in payroll operations within a dynamic logistics environment. The intern will assist in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, support compliance with company policies and regulations, and gain valuable insights into payroll management.
Responsibilities
1. Payroll Processing Support
- Assist in preparing and processing employee timesheets, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Help verify payroll data, including hours worked, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
- Assist in calculating wages and ensuring timely salary disbursements.
2. Data Entry and Record Maintenance- Enter and maintain employee payroll records in the system, ensuring data integrity.
- Update payroll information for new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll data.
3. Compliance and Reporting- Support the payroll team in ensuring compliance with company policies and local labor laws.
- Assist in preparing payroll reports and summaries for management.
- Help in filing tax and regulatory documentation as required.
4. Employee Support- Respond to basic payroll-related queries from employees in a professional manner.
- Escalate complex issues to the Payroll Manager or Supervisor.
5. Ad Hoc Projects- Participate in payroll audits and system improvement initiatives.
- Support other administrative tasks as assigned by the Payroll Manager.
Requirements
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic understanding of payroll principles or eagerness to learn.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Prior exposure to payroll systems
- South African unemployed youth aged between 18 and 34.
- Must not have taken part in the YES Program before.
