Job Summary
This position focuses on maintaining, servicing, and repairing material handling equipment, systems, and products at company premises or customer sites. The aim is to fulfill customer and company needs efficiently and cost-effectively, while also keeping vehicle records up to date.
Key Responsibilities:
- Service and maintain material handling equipment, ensuring forklifts meet specified standards and adhere to established procedures by delivering high-quality service and maintenance.
- Accurately diagnose and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, effectively communicating necessary repairs to the customer and/or supervisor.
- Maintain detailed vehicle maintenance and operational records by promptly updating and communicating relevant information.
- Promote service and maintenance programs to ensure equipment longevity and customer satisfaction.
- Provide exceptional customer service in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring complete satisfaction.
- Facilitate clear communication between yourself, workshop staff (Field Service Team Leader and Controller), and the customer.
- Ensure compliance with OHSACT requirements in all actions on company and client premises; maintain a safe work environment by verifying vehicle safety device operations, following standards and procedures, and adhering to legal regulations.
- Continuously update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Must have qualifications:
- Matric, Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- Qualified Diesel and/or Petrol Mechanic, plus experience with forklifts or similar material handling equipment; or Qualified Forklift Mechanic
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ mechanical, hydraulic and electrical experience pertaining to forklifts.
- Code 8 driver's license (for field service technicians)
- Valid forklift operator license.
- Must be of sober habits and declared fit for the physical requirements of these tasks.
