Job Summary
My client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Business Development Consultant to join our team. The successful candidate will work for a company specializing in energy audits, designing renewable energy solutions, and developing new markets. This role requires a strong technical background in electrical engineering, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage both new and existing accounts for large to medium-scale projects. The candidate must also ensure compliance with all relevant South African legislation and the requirements of the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
Key Responsibilities:
- New Business Development:
- Identify and scout potential new business opportunities within the renewable energy sector.
- Develop and implement strategies to expand the company's client base and market presence.
- Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers in target industries.
- Account Management:
- Manage existing key accounts to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored renewable energy solutions.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of proposals, quotations, and project deliverables.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Possess a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and renewable energy technologies.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and technological advancements in the renewable energy sector.
- Provide technical guidance and support to clients and internal teams.
- Energy Audits and Solutions:
- Conduct comprehensive energy audits to assess the energy consumption and efficiency of buildings and facilities.
- Design and propose renewable energy solutions, including solar PV systems, wind energy systems, and battery storage systems.
- Ensure the integration of renewable energy systems with existing electrical infrastructure.
- Project Management:
- Manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure project requirements are met.
- Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all work complies with South African legislation, including the Electrical Installation Regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Adhere to the standards and guidelines set by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Sales and Marketing:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and marketing materials to potential clients.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to promote the company's products and services.
- Technical Support and Training:
- Provide technical support and training to clients and internal teams on renewable energy technologies and energy management strategies.
- Develop and deliver training programs and workshops.
- Assist clients in understanding and implementing energy management strategies.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng).
- Experience:
- Proven experience in business development or sales within the renewable energy industry.
- Experience in managing key accounts and developing new business opportunities.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and renewable energy technologies.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Other Requirements:
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Valid driver's license.
