Job Summary
Hire Resolve's client is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Designer to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The ideal candidate will lead and contribute to the design, development, and execution of electrical engineering projects, ensuring that customer-specific requirements are met with high-quality, cost-effective, and innovative solutions. This role requires technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a drive to continuously improve design processes and team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver electrical designs and solutions based on customer requirements and project timelines.
- Create detailed machine specifications and designs, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Utilize ePlan for extensive design tasks, including panel layouts and fluid control systems.
- Verify technical designs and implement improvements to enhance accuracy and productivity.
- Lead a design team to meet technical, budget, and timeline objectives.
- Set and manage design schedules to align with project milestones.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to designers, encouraging creative problem-solving and cost-reduction strategies.
- Liaise with clients to address design concepts, changes, and project requirements.
- Foster a collaborative, enthusiastic work environment to promote team growth and efficiency.
- Mentor designers to develop technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and leadership qualities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and stay ahead of industry trends.
- Proactively engage with customers to ensure project success and satisfaction.
- Present technical solutions effectively to senior management and clients.
Requirements
- National Diploma or higher in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Degree.
- Minimum of 3 years in electrical design roles.
- Hands-on experience in electrical panel building and field wiring.
- Proficiency in ePlan, including panel layouts and fluid control systems.
- Strong knowledge of electrical hardware components such as PLCs, sensors, actuators, and motor systems.
- Prior experience in site work and/or project leadership.
- Proficient in fault finding and fluid control systems (valves, actuators, etc.).
- Strong understanding of control system safety principles, risk assessments, and safety performance levels.
- Strategic and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Valid Code 8 driver’s license.
- Must be computer literate.
