Hire Resolve's client is on the lookout for an experienced Data Scientist to join their team in the Insurance sector based in Johannesburg. In this role, you will be pivotal in transforming data into actionable insights that inform strategic decisions and optimize business operations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive modeling, and optimization to identify trends and opportunities.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of new data sources and enhance data collection methods for analytics.
• Create advanced analytics models to address business questions and enhance revenue or reduce costs.
• Stay updated on advanced analytics technologies and methodologies; serve as a technical expert in ML.
• Coach and mentor junior data scientists and analysts while presenting findings to management.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business requirements and deliver analytics solutions that drive value.
• Migrate on-premises solutions to the cloud and build data structures to track model usage and stability.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance or a related field
• 4-6 years of relevant experience in analytics and problem-solving.
• Proficient in big data, database mining, statistical modeling, and programming.
• Experience with database analytical tools, statistical packages, and classification models.
• Knowledge of regression, anomaly detection, neural networks, and Python APIs.
• Strong communication and relationship management skills; degree in finance or data science required.
• Familiarity with Python, SQL Server, Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint, and Azure is advantageous.
