Objectives of this Scope of Work
Finstab is implementing a data-sharing solution to drive the improvement of data-sharing within the Company Group (Business Group) to support reliable and effective decision making; this includes but is not limited to:
Focusing on business optimisation and investigating more efficient ways of working and organising resources to achieve business goals.
Bringing together different elements of the business by performing a consolidation and innovation role to create new or different alternatives and solutions.
Enable visibility of enterprise data as well as efficient access and sharing of data to maximize its return on data assets within the bank.
Scope of Services Definition
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
Develop tactical strategies and related action plans specific to metadata.
Develop and manage stakeholder relations effectively to promote data sharing and metadata awareness across the organisation and to support reliable decision-making.
Define useful metadata for business as well as approach for metadata management within the data virtualisation platform.
Create, maintain, and integrate a metadata environment that enables the sharing and standardisation of business information.
To identify unknown (and useful) datasets and potentially remove duplication in existing/future collection processes.
Maintain and support metadata for the data virtualisation tool as well as facilitate enhancements thereon.
Define business terms, taxonomy, rules and develop business dictionaries/glossaries to create a common understanding of business terms for the Business Group and its relevant stakeholders.
Determine the usage and treatment of business terms as they relate to business operations and functions to create a common understanding thereof.
Develop controls for business terms to support reliable decision-making.
Make regular metadata quality checks and provide improvement suggestions where issues are identified as well as ensure that security is maintained.
Enable the improvement of metadata so that business users can consume such data for analysis and reporting.
Actively participate in processes that continually aim to improve systems, processes, and procedures as they relate to metadata.
Drive automation of metadata management processes and functions.
To be considered for this position, candidates must have:
a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent NQF 7 qualification; and
Metadata Management Certification (e.g. CDMP Associate level) will be an added advantage
Minimum five to eight years of job-related experience within the metadata field.
Solid exposure to Agile methodology.
