Job Summary
The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks up to the trial balance stage. The Assistant Accountant will support the finance department by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports.
Key Accountabilities
Transaction Processing & Administrative Tasks
- Enter data into accounting software and ensure its accuracy.
- Handle correspondence related to financial matters.
- Assist in maintaining financial files and records.
- Perform basic bookkeeping task
Reconciliation
- Reconcile bank statements with company records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts to maintain accurate financial record
Accounts payable and Receivable
- Review Invoices and reconcile payments
Month-end closure
- Assist in the month-end closing process by preparing journal entries and adjusting entries.
- Ensure all financial data is accurate and complete before finalizing the trial balance
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and maintain trial balance and ensure all accounts are balanced.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation
Other Duties
- Work closely with the Financial Manager to provide necessary support.
- Assist in the preparation for audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Participate in special projects and assignments as require
- Any other duties as required
Skills & Qualifications
Educational qualifications:
- Accounting Diploma or Equivalent OR
- Relevant Experience
Relevant experience:
- At least 5 year bookkeeping experience
- Experience in preparing trial balances and assisting with preparing financial statements
Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
