Job Summary
Qualifications and experience:
- Must have a minimum diploma in compliance/law/business administration/science or equivalent.
- A Degree in law is an advantage
- A certification in implementing and managing quality management systems
- A certification in internal auditing/lead auditor:
- Occupational Certificate: Compliance Officer (NQF 6)
- PGDip in Management Practice, specialising in compliance management)
Experience and Skills required:
- Must have an understanding of compliance laws/regulations/standards, entrepreneurial skills and confidence in handling data.
- 3 - 5 years prior experience in compliance and/or risk management roles in the trade, distribution and processing environments (experience in food, chemical sectors will be an advantage)
- Familiarity with ISO 9001/14001
- Have the ability to think startegically
- Superior attention to detail in order to identify and correct risks in the business operations
- Must be a strong communicator and capable of expressing oneself clearly both speaking and in writing in English
- Possess a collaborative personality and be open to suggestions from team members and to offering opinion/suggestion
- Exemplify strong knowledge of industry protocols and best practices
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to accurately interpret complex documents and policies
- Strong time management and organizational skills and able to meet deadlines
- Should have a strong moral code and sense of ethics
- An understanding of market in trade and distribution of industrial chemicals
- Ability to work remotely from compliance team
In your position as compliance officer, you will be responsible for:
- Masterminding and reviewing existing compliance policies and protocols on behalf of the organization
- Maintain and implement a compliance program to ensure the organization operates in accordance with global and regional legislation and regulations and organisation internal strategies and policies
- Monitor and track compliance metrics and systems
- Review any marketing materials and publications to ensure it is compliant
- Remain up to date on compliance standards, regulations and laws related to the organization and update policies accordingly
- Perform compliance audits internally throughout all pillars of the business to determine whether establish protocols are being followed and where they can be improved
- Liaising with various assessing bodies for purposes of external assessments and audits, and assisting in external audits
- Developing training modules and conducting training with staff in relation to all matters related to compliance
- Maintain up to date written documentation and policies related to the organization's business activities
- Create compliance resource library for staff members to reference when they have questions
