About the Role:
We are looking for experienced and skilled Fitters to join our team in Johannesburg and Cape Town. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in the aluminium and glass industry and will play a vital role in installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment. This role requires someone with a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, assemble, and align mechanical components, particularly in the aluminium and glass field.
• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults, minimizing downtime.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job specifications relevant to aluminium and glass production and installation.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Collaborate with installation teams, engineers, and other technicians to complete projects efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards at all times.
• Maintain detailed records of work performed, parts used, and issues encountered.
• Assist in developing preventive maintenance plans for aluminium and glass equipment.

Requirements:

• Trade Test Certificate as a Fitter (or equivalent).
• Technical certification/diploma in mechanical systems (advantageous).
• 3-5 years of experience in the aluminium and glass industry.
• Familiarity with machinery and tools specific to aluminium and glass production and installation.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Attention to detail and a focus on precision.
• Team-oriented with excellent communication skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Physically fit and capable of working in challenging conditions.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and shifts when needed.
