Role Summary
The Engineer / Technician is responsible for overseeing the Rollon Ball Manufacturing process, ensuring efficient production and maintenance of associated support equipment. The role emphasizes maintaining high standards in productivity, quality control, and reliability while aligning with industry compliance and safety standards.
Job Responsibilities and Key Performance Areas (KPA)
1. Production Efficiency and Quality
- Maintain Efficiency: Ensure production output meets or exceeds an Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of 92% and achieve On Time In Full (OTIF) targets.
- Quality Control: Minimize reject and scrap rates, targeting levels below 0.5%.
- Automation and Optimization: Oversee plant layout and system upgrades with a focus on industrial automation to enhance productivity.
2. Equipment Reliability and Maintenance
- Reliability Standards: Implement reliability principles to minimize downtime and maintain equipment reliability above 90%.
- Unscheduled Downtime: Keep unscheduled downtime under 10%.
- Planned Downtime Accuracy: Achieve over 90% accuracy in planned downtime.
- Preventative Maintenance: Ensure a robust preventative maintenance program is in place and critical spares are maintained in a controlled environment.
- Tooling Maintenance: Safeguard the condition and availability of essential tooling.
3. Compliance
- Quality and Safety Standards: Adhere to industry compliance levels, including Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and ISO-aligned Quality Assurance (QA).
- Progress Tracking: Establish and monitor production timelines and milestones, providing regular compliance reports.
- Equipment Servicing: Oversee regular maintenance and servicing schedules.
- Staff Supervision: Support subordinate growth, performance, and alignment with team objectives.
4. Continuous Improvement
- Process Improvement: Implement continuous improvement processes and conduct audits to evaluate successes and failures.
- Non-Conformance Management (NCR): Address NCRs promptly to maintain operational standards.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices.
5. Administration and Reporting
- Documentation: Complete necessary documentation for manufacturing and compliance requirements.
- General Support: Perform additional duties as required to support overall production objectives.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support Availability: Provide assistance across departments and subsidiaries, including potential travel.
- Flexible Hours: Be prepared to work reasonable overtime to meet project deadlines.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Act as an ad hoc member of the Engineering and Maintenance Development team, troubleshooting technical issues as needed.
- Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Toolroom, Maintenance) to support production efficiency.
Management
- Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and motivate subordinates in line with company policies and procedures.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technician certification, or qualification as a Mechanician with a focus in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Automation fields.
Skills / Competencies / Aptitudes
- Technical Proficiency: Strong aptitude in mechanical and electrical engineering, particularly in industrial automation and information technology.
- Engineering Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Quality Awareness: Familiarity with ISO 9001:2000 standards.
- People and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal abilities for effective collaboration and leadership.
- Organizational and Time Management: Excellent time management and organizational skills.

- Production Knowledge: Broad understanding of production processes and systems.
