The Production Planner will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing production schedules to meet customer demands and project deadlines. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with experience in mechanical engineering production planning and a deep understanding of the manufacturing and fabrication processes for industrial systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Scheduling:
- Develop, implement, and monitor production schedules based on customer orders, project deadlines, and resource availability.
- Coordinate with design, procurement, and manufacturing teams to ensure timely execution of plans.
- Material and Resource Planning:
- Analyse material requirements and liaise with the procurement team to ensure the availability of components and raw materials.
- Collaborate with suppliers on project-related procurement to ensure timely delivery and alignment with production schedules.
- Optimize resource utilization, including labour, equipment, and space, to improve productivity and minimize downtime.
- Supplier Coordination:
- Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to address any potential delays or shortages.
- Work with suppliers to ensure quality standards and adherence to project timelines.
- Provide feedback to the procurement team on supplier performance and opportunities for improvement.
- Workflow Management:
- Oversee daily production activities and adjust schedules to address changes in demand, machine breakdowns, or supply chain disruptions.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to maintain smooth operations.
- Quality Assurance Coordination:
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure all systems meet engineering standards and client specifications.
- Address production issues impacting quality or delivery timelines.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to align production schedules with project milestones
- Act as the main point of contact for production-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field would be an advantage.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in production planning within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
