Job Summary
THE PURPOSE OF THE ROLE is to maintain and repair electrical and mechanical systems and equipment, ensuring reliable plant availability and production targets, while also assuming responsibility for additional sections during after-hour shifts.
THE NON-NEGOTIABLE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE:
- Grade 12/N3 or NQF4 Equivalent AND Trade Tested as a Millwright WITH 3-6 years’ experience in the maintenance of heavy machinery within a continuous production environment
- Basic knowledge and exposure to PLC's, hydraulics and pneumatics
- Residing in White River, or within reasonable traveling distance (or willing to relocate) AND willing to work shifts
- Sound health with a valid certificate of fitness (or willingness to undergo a medical)
- Proficiency with working on Microsoft Office

FURTHER EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE THAT WILL COUNT IN YOUR FAVOUR:- TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE IN: Hydraulics, Pneumatic, AC/DC drives, Siemens PLC, Conveyors, Vacuum pumps, Boilers, Combustion systems, Cable joints, MV (up to 11 kv) experience, MV (up to 11kv) switching, Transformer knowledge, Air compressor knowledge, Standby generator experience, Mechanical seal knowledge, Bearing fitment & Preloading, Gas burner knowledge, Luminaires and lighting systems, Direct current motors, Tacho's and encoders, Pump experience, Couplings & Alignment, Screening & Vibrator systems, Rigging & Slinging, Fall arrest, Lubrication, Fault finding, Brakes & Clutches, Motor control centres, Ability to interpret hydraulic drawings, Ability to interpret electrical drawings, Ability to interpret pneumatic drawings, Ability to interpret PID's (Process and Instrumentation drawings, Preventative maintenance system,
- OHSA EXPERIENCE: Isolation & permit to work (LOTO - Lock out - Tag out), Risk Assessment
- ADMINISTRATION : Completion of inspection lists
- ENVIRONMENTAL: Ability to identify environmental risks e.g. oil spills,

Maintenance and Repairs- Carry out daily inspections, repairs, and installations.
- Service and maintain electrical, PLC, and mechanical systems to ensure reliable plant availability and production targets.
- Take preventative measures where possible.
- Repair interior and exterior lighting systems.
- Read and interpret sketches, wiring diagrams, drawings, and blueprints to perform work to specific standards.
- Maintain records and logs of inspections, maintenance done, repairs done, and parts used.
- If assigned after-hours shifts assume maintenance and repair responsibility for all additional sections including the Preparation, Finishing, and Upgrade departments.
- Plan and generate job cards for any scheduled maintenance work and discuss with the electrical foreman.
- Job cards are to be completed for all jobs done during the shift.
Housekeeping- Perform general clean-ups at work sites including sweeping and vacuuming of workshops, substations, and transformer rooms.
Safety- Observe and implement proper safety practices.
- Attend to matters arising and take preventative measures as appropriate.
- Follow lock-out procedures for any work undertaken
Maintenance Fault Finding- Complete job cards for equipment breakdowns and estimate time, materials, and equipment required for tasks requiring attention.
- Attend daily meetings with the electrical engineering department
- Implement corrective measures as required.
Other- Perform occasional cutting, welding, soldering, and brazing.
- Assist in other areas of maintenance as required.
Standby- Perform standby duties. Responsible for the whole Plant while on standby.
