The Maintenance Working Foreman is responsible to Plan and Perform maintenance work to plant safety/food safety standards. Weld, cut and fit repairs or new installations and troubleshoot issues and resolve. Perform routinely scheduled preventative maintenance and document work completed. Help develop long-term preventative maintenance projects and plans. Work with the production team to help drive efficiency in operations. Conduct maintenance on items identified through scheduled inspections. Minimize downtime by performing repairs in a safe, reliable, expedient manner according to the agreed frequency and method. Perform inventory management on critical spare parts. Ensure all assets are being properly cared for- including adhering to greasing/oiling schedules, and inspection of parts to ensure they are meeting appropriate specifications. Inspection/cleaning of plant components. (Dust Declarations, energy management, budget, procurement and the job card system)
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Prioritise and schedule maintenance task in accordance to supplier specifications.
- Manage all mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
- Adherence to preventative maintenance plan.
- Ensure job card system is up to date and all reports are submitted on time and are correct
- Update maintenance program with information on what preventative maintenance is required.
- Ensure that necessary parts are available and if parts are not available order in time
- Consult Production / Packing Manager when production line can be stopped to do necessary maintenance
- Inform maintenance personnel with job card when machines have to be serviced and compile schedule accordingly
- To ensure good work practices carried out by all operators
- Ensure work is done in such high quality that re-occurrence will not occur on the same equipment due to poor work quality.
- To coordinated the measurement tracking of energy efficiency at your mill
- To be proactive by improving the operational skills level of all operators by in house training and external training.
- Ensure that the ION Meter is in order and recording the energy usage in a correct manner.
- Daily checks to be done and recorded on the power factor units. If any defects are logged, action needs to be taken to rectify.
- Dust, Air, Spillage and water leakage free plant must be achieved and maintained at all times – corrective action must be taken to ensure plant comply.
- Prepare and ensure adherence to budget.
- Ensure compliance with all internal policies, procedures and CIPs.
- Ensure compliance to food safety requirements as per the FSSC standard.
- Ensure OPRPs are managed effectively.
- Afterhours standby and callout required.
- Red Seal Millwright trade test Certificate
- Instrumentation / SCADA Systems/ PLC / HMI / High Voltage Switching Experience (optional but preferred)
- Knowledge of plant automation operations
- Minimum 5 years’ experience gained in a FMCG / Manufacturing
- Supervisor course qualification (6-month refresher course) including HR / IR Course How to delegate, communicate, motivate and discipline
- 3 year’s managing or supervising a team
- FSSC training (optional but preferred)
- OHS Safety Rep (formal training) up to date (optional but preferred)
- First Aid / Fire Fighting formal training – (Certificate) up to date (optional but preferred)
- Forklift Driver’s license (optional but preferred)
- Dryer / Heater bank system training
- Fault Finding – Electrical and mechanical schematic
