Job Summary
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing custom components tailored to specialised pump arrangements. This includes creating comprehensive machining/fabrication drawings, cutting lists, and providing hands-on support to the production team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise. You’ll work closely with various departments, including Sales, Quality, and Planning, to ensure that each design meets the required customer specifications and aligns with industry standards. Your role will involve performing essential engineering calculations, such as load analysis and material stress assessments, to guarantee the durability and functionality of each design.
We’re looking for a candidate who is proficient with Autodesk software, with a sound understanding of material strengths, fits, tolerances, and metallurgy. You should have a minimum of 5 - 8 years’ experience in mechanical design, particularly in pump components mechanical or rotating equipment experience such as gearboxes or motors. Excellent problem-solving skills, a creative approach to design, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects are essential for this role. To succeed, you’ll need to collaborate effectively with team members, support technical handovers, and uphold ISO standards by maintaining drawing registers and updating the ERP system.
Candidates must hold a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and be registered as a Professional Engineer (PREng) with relevant experience in the pump industry, as well as with mechanical or rotating equipment (e.g. gearboxes or motors).
